Before you can use toilet paper coupons, you need to know your septic system.
Contact your plumber and ask what brands of toilet paper work best for your
septic system. If you do not have a plumber or haven’t the slightest idea what
brands of toilet papers work best for your plumbing and septic system, then only
get one package of a brand of toilet paper that you have never used before.
Coupons are getting trickier. It may not be a cash off coupon but a get one item free coupon.
How many packages of toilet paper do you have to buy in order to get the free package?
How big are the packages that you have to buy?
If you have to
buy two 24 rolls of toilet paper to get a free package, it may be more than you
can afford at the moment.
Also note the expiration date
If it is only good for one
particular store or chain of stores. Also know your store’s rules about what
coupons they will accept. Some stores will not allow coupons that have been
printed out from websites but will only allow coupons from newspapers or
magazines. Some stores will not accept coupons of any kind.
Some toilet paper coupons will have printed underneath the expiration “Not
subject to doubling.” If the coupon is for more than one dollar for a small
package, then this is no big deal. But if it is only a ten cents off coupon at a
store that normally doubles or even triples coupons, then this is big deal
indeed.
Note Regular Prices
So you are at the shop with your toilet paper coupons. Before you grab the
particular brand or size of the toilet paper that the coupon is for, be sure to
compare the discounted price to the price of your regular toilet paper. Bring a
calculator to the store with you if necessary.
Some people just assume that
all coupon items are bargains. This is not so. Suppose you have a $1.00 off
coupon for a $6.99 package of toilet paper. But your regular brand goes for
$5.49. In this case, it is wiser to just stick with your regular brand rather
than go for the brand with the coupon.
Start examining all of your local store circulars sent to your home or are free
at your store’s entrance. Compare their sales for toilet paper. Look for the
sales on the brands you have coupons for. Ideally, you want to find a store that
allows coupons to be used on sale items. This can potentially save you a lot.
Checklist
Since you use toilet paper every day, it makes sense to use coupons when you
can. But only use coupons on brands you know that do not easily clog up your
toilet’s plumbing or septic system.
