Joking about women loving to shop has been around a long time. Being the subject of the joke was once insulting.
Times have changed.
Praise is what women are hearing today for being savvy shoppers. Smart shopping

part of the game.
Manufacturers began the coupon game many years ago, to entice shoppers to try
their product and to reward them with a discount for choosing their particular
product. It was a successful campaign. Coupon redemption endures today. Coupons
can be used to research the price sensitivity of different groups of buyers . In
addition, it is generally assumed that buyers who take the effort to collect and
use coupons are more price sensitive than those who do not. Coca-Cola issued the
first coupon for a glass of coke in 1887.
Revlon was born during the Great Depression. Brothers Charles and Joseph Revson , along with a chemist, Charles Lachman, who contributed the "L" in the Revlon name Their company started with a single product. A new type of nail enamel. They sold the product in retail stores, expanding the product base. Later, lipstick was added to the line. By the end of the war, Revlon was listed as one of America's top five cosmetic houses.
